Should I Always Purchase Brand New Games?

Gaming, a hobby that can become extremely expensive. With new games being released monthly, it is without a doubt one of the more expensive hobbies out there that anyone can become addicted to. But our question today is, should you always purchase brand new games? The short answer to this is no. You don’t always need to purchase brand new games, whether they’re newly released or older. We are going to share with you some ways to save money surrounding the purchasing of games.

Purchasing Secondhand
Firstly, you should always consider purchasing games secondhand. There are a lot of for-sale sites and groups out there where people sell unwanted games for a fraction of the cost. This is no different from buying the game new other than someone has already played it. You will need to check the discs for scratches as this may prevent you from playing the game.

Renting Games
It is also possible for you to rent out video games to play. There is a small selection of companies that offer this option. Renting the game helps you to save money as this will be cheaper than purchasing outright. The downfall is you may not have time to complete the game before it is time to return.

Purchasing Online
Most consoles offer you the option to purchase all games online. Sometimes it can be cheaper to purchase directly from their online store than in shops. They also have different sales to shops so you may be able to grab yourself a bargain. The downside, you will not receive a disc, so will not be able to sell on the game.

Here are our three other options to purchasing games brand new directly from a store. Consider some of these choices and you may save yourself some money and be able to try out multiple games!

Importance of Developing A Balance Between Gaming and Learning

Using gaming for learning as we know can be extremely beneficial. With children preferring to learn through different types of games. However, it is important that you develop a balance between gaming and learning. This is important because it helps your children to know there are different ways of learning. As well as not everything in life is going to be fun. You do not want your child to think their whole life learning is going to be fun. Sometimes it will be stressful and difficult, but the most important thing to do is encourage them that they will figure it out. Developing this balance between gaming and learning will help your children in later life. Understanding that learning can be fun but it can also be stressful. Allowing them to not panic when they struggle with a new skill. This may also help them to create their own games to make learning fun, not needing pre-made games all the time.

Learn Coding Through Gaming

Coding can be a difficult skill to learn but one which can be extremely beneficial. It is possible to learn coding through gaming, this is especially good for younger children who wish to learn the basics. Minecraft is a game which we have discussed many times, they offer serves which help to teach children the basics of coding. Creating their own systems to work within Minecraft. There have also been other coding games which have been released just in time for Christmas. One of these includes Osmo Coding. This brand offers multiple different sets to help you and your children learn the basics of different coding sectors. Another choice is Thames and Kosmos. This brand offers a coding and robotic set where you build your own robot and then code them to do certain tasks. This is extremely fun for children of all ages, allowing them to learn this new skill whilst still have fun.

Fun Learning Tools For Children

We all want our children to be learning. But what are some fun learning tools we can use? Today, we are not going to be focusing upon online gaming but the more physical games which they can hold.

One of my favourite learning tools for younger children is the Leapfrog Leapstart. This allows your child to read through books completing different games and activities. Allowing them to learn whilst having fun. The difficulty of the games varies and their are books for children from 2-7years.

Another good learning tool for children is arts and crafts. This can help them to learn colours, shapes, spelling and more. All you need is some crafty items and set up a task for them. Whether it be spelling words with alphabet stickers. Or painting shapes certain colours.

Finally, just working with you can help them to learn. Allow them to join in with making dinner. Make it into a game by asking them to count. Or throwing pizza toppings into a bowl or onto the pizza.
